Privacy policy

What the JIE FORUM organising committee collects, why, for how long, and how to take back control of your data.

1. Introduction

The data controller is the JIE FORUM organising committee. This policy describes the personal data processed by the JIE FORUM website: registrations and badges, member accounts, the discussion forum and messaging, exhibitor and partner applications, and the contact form.

No data is sold, rented or passed on for advertising purposes. The site does no profiling or automated decision-making, and uses no advertising trackers.

2. Consent

By sending one of the site's forms, you agree that the data entered will be processed for the purpose stated on that form. Each form distinguishes required fields (without which the request cannot be handled) from optional ones, which you are free to leave blank.

You can withdraw this consent at any time: edit or erase optional information from your member area, ask for your account to be deleted, or write to contact@jie-forum.com.Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out.

3. Data collected

Forum registration (getting a badge)

Issuing your badge, managing capacity and checking admission at the venue.

Chosen profile (participant, entrepreneur, delegation, visitor)
Full name and e-mail address (required)
Phone, organisation, country (optional)
For entrepreneurs: project title and summary (optional)
Optional attachment: pitch, deck or ID document
Automatically generated badge code, and check-in time on the day of the forum

Member account

Giving you access to the discussion forum, messaging and your badge.

Full name and e-mail address
Password, stored encrypted; the committee never has access to it
Phone, organisation, country, bio (optional, editable at any time)
Optional profile photo: if you upload one, other members can see it on the forum and in messages, and you can remove it at any time

Exhibitor or partner application

Reviewing the application and preparing the presence at the forum venue.

Organisation name, category, description, website
Contact name, e-mail and phone
Optional logo, published on the Exhibitors page once the application is approved

Forum and private messages

Letting members talk to each other.

Topics and messages posted, publicly visible with your name
Private messages, readable only by their sender and recipient
Reports you make, passed on to the moderation team

Contact form

Replying to your message.

Name, e-mail address, subject and content of the message

In addition, solely to protect the site, a temporary counter tied to your IP address is kept when you send a form or try to sign in.

Finally, the site counts visits per page, so the committee knows what is being read. This counter is anonymous : it records a page and a date, never your IP address, an identifier or a cookie, and it is switched off if your browser sends “Do Not Track”. No outside audience measurement service is used.

4. How your data is used

Your data is used solely to:

Issue your badge, manage capacity and check admissions on the day of the event.
Manage your member account and let you find your badge and conversations again.
Run the discussion forum, private messaging and moderation.
Review exhibitor and partner applications, and prepare the exhibition area.
Send you service e-mails: registration confirmation, badge, password reset, replies to your forum topics.
Reply to messages sent through the contact form.
Invite you to future editions, unless you object.
Protect the site against automated submissions and abuse.

5. Sharing your data

Within the committee, access to registrations and attachments is restricted to administrators. Moderators can access exhibitor applications, the forum and check-in, but not ID documents.

Other visitors can see: your name and profile photo, the topics and messages you post on the forum and, for an approved application, your organisation's name, description and logo. Your contact details, bio and private messages are never shown.

Technical providers host the data on our behalf, for no other purpose:

Hosting of the database, accounts and attachments(European Union)
Website hosting and page delivery(United States)
Editorial content management (programme, news, speakers)(European Economic Area, no visitor personal data)
Protection against automated submissions and abuse(European Union)
Sending e-mails (registration confirmation, badge, forgotten password)(European Union)

6. Where data is processed and how it is secured

Registrations, accounts and attachments are hosted in the European Union. The site's pages are served by a provider based in the United States.

All traffic with the site is encrypted (HTTPS) end to end.
Passwords are stored in an encrypted, irreversible form.
Attachments are stored in a private area: only administrators can open them, through a temporary link valid for one minute.
Access rights are enforced by the database itself, not just by the site.

7. How long data is kept

8. Your rights over your personal data

Access: Get a copy of the data about you.
Rectification: Correct inaccurate information: your profile can be edited directly from your member area.
Erasure: Ask for your account and the related data to be deleted.
Objection: Object to processing, in particular to invitations to future editions.
Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format.

To exercise any of these rights, write to contact@jie-forum.com stating your request. The committee replies within one month.

9. Changes to this privacy policy

This policy may change, in particular if the site collects new data or uses a new provider. The version in force is always the one published on this page, and the date at the top shows when it was last updated. Any significant change is announced on the site before it takes effect.
